The holy grail of affiliate marketing is getting a celebrity with a great reputation and a huge, loyal audience to push your products. In this day and age, I’m guessing your brain went right to an influencer campaign on Instagram or TikTok. But let me remind you of a more traditional approach.
I’m talking about broadcast affiliate strategy, which marries the scale and reputation of major broadcast networks with strategic product placement. Think “Oprah’s Favorite Things,” which is probably the most powerful example of this kind of campaign.
The fact is, the major networks continue to carry outsized clout with product placements. From the TODAY show to Good Morning America and beyond, there are options for brands to pursue to get their product pitched, with a celebrity host’s seal of approval, to enthusiastic audiences in the millions.
(This is where I note that you need to build long-term relationships with these networks to even have a shot at something like this, and that even with an agency like DMi constantly working to establish and deepen win-win partnerships with their network contacts, there’s never a guarantee of placement.)
